The Steamy Wonder™ was designed by an expert team of Vaidyas (Ayurvedic physicians), specifically for the swedana portion of panchakarma. It is the only steam equipment on the market that allows the patient to lie down and keep the head cool—key ayurvedic requirements for a healthy, safe steam treatment.

Patients are safe and comfortable

In the Ayurvedic tradition, lying prone while steaming allows the heart to work most efficiently—keeping the blood flow even throughout the body. Contrast this to sitting in a sauna or steam box where gravity sends the blood down to the feet, making the heart work harder to pump it back up. The ‘dizziness’ that some people report from saunas and steam boxes may be attributed to the lack of blood/oxygen in the brain combined with breathing hot, moist air. According to the Ayurvedic texts, it is also undesirable to heat the blood in the brain. Only the body needs to be heated, not the head, to enjoy the detoxification and purification benefits that result from steam therapy.

In addition, patients enjoy great comfort under the Steamy Wonder™ tent. Because the Steamy Wonder™ works with a regular massage table, your patients lie on a cushioned surface (protected by our special sheets), not the hard, wooden slates used in traditional swedana equipment. Easy to Use & Clean

The Steamy Wonder™ sets up and takes down in just a few minutes-minimizing the amount of time between treatments. Unlike a sauna or steam box, the Steamy Wonder™ does not require a dedicated space-it is fully portable. The canopy can be stored upright in a corner or closet, folded or suspended from the ceiling.

Cleaning the canopy is easy. The canopy can be machine-washed in cool water on a gentle cycle and air-dried. The high-grade coated nylon fabric will not mildew, fray or deteriorate with proper care. There are also a wide variety of gentle, safe spray cleaners on the market (e.g., ones with tea tree oil, hydrogen peroxide, orange essential oil) that can be used in-between treatments to remove any herbalized oils or pastes you might have used in a previous treatment.
